The rules

They fit on a postcard. They are the same for everyone, and they only change with thirty days' notice.

  1. Everything here is short. A poem, a story, a song, a film, a picture. Each takes under five minutes.
  2. A work is composted 7 days after it was last watered. Watered on a Monday, it lives until the next Monday night. Composted means gone for good. It never comes back.
  3. You get 3 drops of water a day. Each drop waters one work. They refill every night. They can't be saved up, bought, or given away.
  4. You can only water what you finished today. Read it, hear it, look at it. Then decide.
  5. It only takes one. A single keeper watering once a week keeps a work alive forever. Survival is not popularity.
  6. Anyone can plant. One work at a time, made by you or shared with permission. A gardener reads it first, then it goes into the first free bed.
  7. The garden has 48 beds. When they are full, new works wait in the seed bank until a bed is free. A watered work is never pushed out to make room. Right now 0 works are waiting.
  8. Everything happens once a night. At your time, works get a day older, unwatered ones are lost, new ones are planted and your water refills. There are no countdowns to watch.
